Product Statuses
An Actualog product does not have one all-purpose status. Several independent status axes answer different questions about the same product.
Product Overview normally shows the three most important badges together: Workflow, Publication, and Data status. Governance details and filters expose identity, record, visibility, and technical calculation information.
Open Product Overview to inspect products in the selected company workspace.
Workflow status: has a person accepted the data?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | The product is being created or revised. |
| Pending approval | The product is waiting for an authorized review decision. |
| Approved | The current product data was accepted. Approval does not publish it automatically. |
| Rejected | The submitted data was rejected and must be revised before another approval attempt. |
Publication status: is the product intended to be public?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Internal | The product is not for public discovery. It stays out of public lists, public search, public catalogs, public media, and sitemap. |
| Published | The product is intended for public availability, subject to all other visibility gates. |
Approved is not the same as Published. A product can be Approved and Internal.
Internal is not the same as invisible to every signed-in user. Authorized users can work with Internal products in management contexts such as Product Overview, Product Edit, Product Stewardship, management popovers, Category management previews, and explicitly selected product comparison. The server checks the user's product, company, Brand Owner, or category stewardship authority before showing the product.
Data status: does the product data pass the rules?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not calculated / Unknown | No current successful data result is available. |
| Ready | Required data and blocking checks pass. |
| Incomplete | Required information is missing. |
| Invalid | Data exists but violates category, attribute, brand, unit, or template rules. |
| Conflict | Identity, grouping, uniqueness, or authority cannot be resolved unambiguously. |
Data status is based on the persisted result of Check data. Product Overview reads the stored result; opening the page does not recalculate every product.
Calculation status: is the displayed data result current?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not calculated | A quality calculation has not completed. |
| Pending | A calculation is queued or running. |
| Current | The stored data status comes from the current successful calculation. |
| Failed | The technical calculation failed and can be retried. |
Identity status: can Actualog identify and deduplicate the product?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unknown | Identity has not been calculated. |
| Complete | A usable deterministic identity key exists. |
| Missing identity | Required identity components are absent. |
| Stale | Identity rules or inputs changed and identity must be recalculated. |
| Conflict | Duplicate or grouping rules produced a conflict requiring repair. |
Record status: is this the active product record?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Normal active product record. |
| Merged | The record was merged into another canonical product. |
| Deprecated | The record is retained but no longer actively maintained. |
Deleted, Merged, and Deprecated records are not normal public products.
Effective visibility: where can the product actually appear?
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Public search | Visible in public search and public category browsing. |
| Direct link only | Openable through an allowed direct link but excluded from public lists. |
| Management only | Visible only in authenticated management surfaces. |
| Hidden | Unavailable because it is deleted, merged, or otherwise blocked. |
Effective visibility is the result of the combined governance gates. A product can be Published but still absent from public search when workflow, data, identity, record, quality, or variant-family requirements fail.
Product comparison is access-checked per signed-in user. Publicly readable products can be compared by users who can open them. An Internal product can also be compared when the user already has management or stewardship access to that product. A shared comparison link does not bypass permissions: products outside the viewer's readable scope are hidden from that viewer.
Lifecycle stage is different
Lifecycle stage describes where the real-world product is in its lifecycle: Idea, Research and Development, Project, Prototype, Working Sample, Batch Production, Discontinued, or Removed from Service.
Lifecycle stage is descriptive product data. It is not a replacement for workflow, publication, data, identity, or visibility status.
Example
Approved / Internal / Ready means the data was accepted and passes checks, but the product is intentionally not published. It can still be managed and compared by authorized users.
Draft / Internal / Incomplete means the product is still being prepared, is not public, and is missing required data.
Approved / Published / Ready is closer to public readiness, but Actualog still checks identity, record, blockers, effective visibility, and variant-family state.
